Getting a Swedish virtual phone number for your business
Stockholm, Gothenburg, Malmö: Sweden is the leading Nordic market, and a +46 number inspires trust there. Landline and mobile numbers follow very different rules.
For a landline, the company’s address must be within the area code’s zone, proven by the Swedish registration certificate (Registreringsbevis) or a bill, and the Swedish organisation number is requested.
For a mobile, the address can be anywhere in the world: a company registered abroad simply provides its own registration document and number. You will also be asked for a public website and the representative’s email address, which cannot be an alias.
Country code and number format
- Local (landline)
- +46 +46, then the area code without the 0 and the number; the length varies. 8 Stockholm, 31 Gothenburg, 40 Malmö, 18 Uppsala. Example: +46 8 123 456 78.
- Mobile
- +46 +46 7, then 8 digits (07x nationally). Example: +46 70 123 45 67.
What you need to know
The Registreringsbevis
The registration certificate issued by Bolagsverket, the Swedish Companies Registration Office. It shows the organisation number (Organisationsnummer), in the format NNNNNN-NNNN.
A business email, no alias
For a mobile, the representative’s email address cannot be an alias, and a personal address (such as a free webmail account) may lead to additional checks.
Mobile or landline?
Without an office in Sweden, mobile is the natural route. With a Stockholm address, an 08 number shows your local presence.
