Head to head
Skipcall vs PhoneBurner: which one to choose
Both tools make outbound calls, but they do not dial the same way and they do not cover the same countries. This page settles a single question: which of the two for your team. It compares the dialling modes, a full working day, the cost per conversation and the quotas, with the calculation method on show.
Data verified on
The verdict, in three lines
The criterion that decides is neither the price nor the feature list: it is first the country you call, then the number of attempts your team can make in a working day.
Choose PhoneBurner if
Your prospects are in the United States or Canada, and you want one line at a time.
Its official FAQ is explicit on both points: the service only dials American and Canadian numbers, and it declines multi-line dialling so that a phone never rings with nobody on the other end. If your market is North American and that stance suits you, the tool is consistent from end to end.
Choose Skipcall if
You have fewer than a hundred employees, you call in France or in Europe, and you want more attempts.
One tool for the whole organisation: parallel dialling on four lines for the people who prospect, and a business number, inbound calls, voicemail, SMS and mobile and web apps for everyone else. That is where Skipcall belongs.
Skipcall is built for companies with fewer than a hundred employees: a team that prospects, and colleagues who simply need a number and to receive their calls. Beyond that size, telephony becomes a project in itself and an inbound specialist is the better fit.
What PhoneBurner does better than us
Four areas where the choice is not up for debate. Knowing them before you buy avoids a project that derails in the third month.
The integration catalogue
PhoneBurner advertises more than a hundred integrations, including Salesforce, HubSpot, Zoho, SugarCRM and monday.com. Skipcall offers four native ones: HubSpot, Pipedrive, Salesforce and Attio, plus a read-only API to connect the other tools. If your software stack relies on ready-made connectors, the PhoneBurner catalogue is clearly richer.
Voicemail drop
This is its flagship feature, included on every plan: the rep records the messages in advance, then drops one on a voicemail with a single click and moves straight to the next contact. Skipcall does not offer this feature. If voicemail drop holds a central place in your prospecting method, the gap is real and it counts against us.
One line at a time, with no abandoned calls
A dialler that opens only one line cannot, by design, make a phone ring with nobody on the other end. PhoneBurner makes it a compliance argument, and the argument is sound. Parallel dialling brings volume, but in exchange it demands a discipline in configuration that sequential dialling never requires.
Live monitoring and coaching
PhoneBurner offers listening in on live calls and coaching from its Professional plan. Skipcall has no real-time monitoring: the manager has the dashboard, the recordings, the transcriptions and the summaries, but not simultaneous listening. A team that trains new reps continuously loses a useful tool.
What Skipcall does better than PhoneBurner
The same exercise in reverse, and verifiable in the same way: four areas where the gap plays in our favour.
The volume of conversations for the same working time
PhoneBurner opens one line at a time, by a stance it claims openly, while Skipcall opens four. Over the typical day set out below, the same working time produces 700 attempts and 56 conversations with parallel dialling, against 210 attempts and 6 conversations with sequential dialling. The two approaches answer different priorities: ours targets the number of contacts reached.
French and European numbers
The official PhoneBurner FAQ states that its platform only allows dialling numbers located in the United States and Canada. Skipcall dials 12 countries, including France. For a team prospecting its home market in France, this point settles the comparison ahead of every other.
The entry price per licence
The first PhoneBurner plan is billed at $140 per licence per month on annual billing, and $165 on monthly billing. At Skipcall, a Business VoIP licence costs €15 and a Starter licence €75, with no licence minimum and no commitment on either side. Applied to the volume of the typical day, and on the Skipcall plan whose quota covers that volume, the cost per conversation comes to €0.25 against $1.17.
Telephony for the whole company in the same subscription
At Skipcall, the business number, inbound calls, voicemail and the mobile and web apps are included on every plan, from €15 per licence. At PhoneBurner, the number and inbound routing start on the Premium plan, at $183 per licence per month. Colleagues who simply need to make calls therefore do not have to be equipped through a second subscription.
Two families of tools, and only one that covers both
Most companies that prospect end up with two subscriptions: a telephony tool for everyone, a dialler for the sales team. That is the real hidden cost of this market, and it appears on no price list.
Business telephony
The switchboard for the whole company.
Reception, interactive voice response, call queues, customer service, international coverage, a broad integration catalogue.
No parallel dialling. Your reps are capped at the number of calls they can make one by one.
Specialist diallers
This is the family PhoneBurner belongs to.
Continuous dialling with no dead time, voicemail drop, callback cadences, call dispositions, CRM integrations. Very effective for prospecting.
No telephony building block for the rest of the company, or one reserved for the most expensive plan. Colleagues who simply need a number and to receive their calls have to be equipped elsewhere. So a second subscription.
Skipcall
Both, in the same tool.
Parallel dialling on four lines, on a par with the best specialists, and the complete telephony building block: business number, inbound calls, voicemail, SMS, mobile and web apps.
Fewer reception features than a large telephony vendor. That is a deliberate choice: beyond a hundred or so employees, an inbound specialist is the better fit.
In practice: at Skipcall, a €15 licence is enough to equip someone who simply needs a business number, an app and to receive their calls. The reps who prospect take a plan from €75, with parallel dialling. Same tool, same directory, same invoice.
It all comes down to the dialling mode
Sequential dialling
A number is dialled, the line rings, then the call connects or it does not. Only at the end of that sequence does the next number go out. The dialler moves from one record to the next with no dead time, which is already a considerable gain over dialling by hand, but the rep stays present during the ringing, listens to the start of voicemails and hangs up. That is how PhoneBurner works, on all three of its plans, and its official FAQ makes it a stance it claims openly: a single line open, so no abandoned calls.
Parallel dialling
Four numbers go out at the same time. As soon as someone answers, the other three lines are released and the rep is connected. Artificial intelligence filtering removes voicemails, switchboards and invalid numbers before they reach them. The waiting time during the ringing disappears, which changes the number of conversations obtained for the same working time.
The difference is not about voice quality or about how rich the software is: it is about the number of attempts possible in an hour of work. That is what the next table puts into figures.
A typical day, hour by hour
Same rep, same list, same working time. Only the dialling mode changes.
| Slot | What happens | Calls · sequential | Calls · parallel |
|---|---|---|---|
| 09:00 to 10:30 | First burst on the day's list | 45 | 150 |
| 10:30 to 12:30 | Rest of the list and scheduled callbacks | 60 | 200 |
| 14:00 to 15:30 | Back to the morning's unreached contacts | 45 | 150 |
| 15:30 to 17:30 | Last burst and end of day notes | 60 | 200 |
| Total for the day | 210 | 700 | |
| Conversations obtained | 6 | 56 | |
Assumptions on show: four working slots, a connect rate of 3% with sequential dialling, the upper bound of our published range of 2 to 3%, and 8% with parallel dialling. These are the figures published by Skipcall, applied to dialling modes and not to brands. The detail is in the “Method and sources” section, further down.
The one table that decides: the cost per conversation
Comparing two licence prices teaches you nothing when the two tools do not dial the same way. What counts is what one conversation obtained costs. Here is the calculation, from the typical day above and twenty working days per month.
PhoneBurner Standard
$1.17
per conversation
Licence: $140 per month
Conversations: 120 per month
Minimum: none
Skipcall Expert
€0.25
per conversation
Licence: €280 per month
Conversations: 1,120 per month
Minimum: none
The Skipcall licence used here is the more expensive one, and yet the conversation costs a fraction of the price. That is the whole gap between a subscription price and a cost of use, and it comes from the number of attempts, not from a discount. The plan used is the one whose quota actually covers the projected volume: at this pace, Starter and its 400 conversations would be exceeded in the second week. The next section explains how to pick the right tier. Conversely, if your team makes few calls, the comparison closes up: PhoneBurner does not limit the number of calls, and the Skipcall plan at €15 or €75 becomes the right entry point.
Amounts excluding tax, in the billing currency of each vendor, with no conversion. PhoneBurner prices on annual billing, Skipcall prices on monthly billing: the 20% discount on our annual price list is not applied here.
Our plans include a conversation quota. Here is the one that suits you
PhoneBurner limits neither the number of calls nor their length, Skipcall counts conversations on three of its four plans. Better to explain it plainly: badly chosen, the plan becomes the real hidden cost.
| Plan | Price | Conversations | SMS | Who it suits |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Business VoIP | €15 | 200 | 100 | Roles that need a business number and make a few calls a day, without prospecting. |
| Starter | €75 | 400 | 200 | A rep who prospects part time, or a team getting started. Around 20 conversations per working day. |
| Intermediate | €150 | 1,000 | 500 | A rep whose main job is phone prospecting. Around 50 conversations per working day. |
| Expert | €280 | Unlimited | 1,000 | Teams with very high volume, and those who would rather not watch a counter. |
Any conversation longer than ten seconds is counted. Calls shorter than ten seconds, voicemails and invalid numbers consume nothing. The list of countries you can call is on the pricing page.
Our artificial intelligence serves the rep, it does not replace them
This is the fundamental difference between Skipcall and part of the market, in both directions: we put more of it in than the tools that have none, and we refuse to put it where others place it.
What our artificial intelligence does
It filters out voicemails, switchboards and invalid numbers before they reach the rep. It transcribes the call and produces a summary. In other words, it removes the work that carries no value and leaves the work that does.
What it does not do
It does not speak on your behalf. We do not offer a voice agent, and this is not a feature we are late on: it is a position. To call a prospect or answer a customer, the best person for your company's image is still a member of your team.
Why the relationship matters
A company that hands its conversations to a machine loses the direct link with its contacts. That link is hard to rebuild, and its weakening does not show on a dashboard for several months.
Why cost matters too
Voice agents are billed by the minute or by the credits consumed. The invoice follows the volume, it is hard to forecast, and the real effect on the customer relationship is hard to measure. A fixed-price licence remains a budget you control.
In one sentence
We automate what makes your reps lose time, never the conversation itself.
Dialling, filtering out an answering machine, spotting an invalid number, transcribing, summarising: the machine does it better and never tires. Talking to a customer or a prospect, no. That limit is also what makes your budget predictable: a fixed-price licence, and not billing by the minute that follows your volume.

Method and sources
A comparison published by one of the two vendors is only worth something if its method can be checked. Here is where every figure on this page comes from, including what it does not prove.
The prices
Skipcall prices are those of the public price list, excluding tax, on monthly billing: the 20% discount offered on annual billing is not applied here. PhoneBurner prices are those shown on phoneburner.com/pricing on annual billing, in dollars: $140 for Standard, $165 for Professional and $183 for Premium, per licence per month. We do not convert currencies, to avoid making a comparison depend on the exchange rate of the day.
The dialling mode
The official PhoneBurner FAQ answers no to the question of a multi-line dialler and explains that refusal by the risk of abandoned calls under the American rules. It is a stance the vendor claims, not a missing feature, and this page presents it as such. Everything that follows therefore compares the number of attempts possible for the same working time, never the quality of the software.
The connect rates
The 8% rate with parallel dialling and the 3% rate with sequential dialling, the upper bound of our published range of 2 to 3%, are the figures published by Skipcall on its product pages. They are our own figures, not an independent measurement, and they are attributed to no vendor by name: they describe two dialling modes, not two brands.
The typical day
The hourly table is an arithmetic projection from the call cadences and the rates above, over four working slots and twenty working days per month. It is not the record of a real day. Your figures will depend on your list, your sector and your calling hours.

Frequently asked questions
Does PhoneBurner offer a parallel dialler? +
No. PhoneBurner dials one number at a time and the rep is on the line at every answer. Its official FAQ explicitly answers no to the question of a multi-line dialler and explains that refusal by the risk of abandoned calls under the American rules. None of its three plans offers parallel dialling as of 3 September 2026.
Can PhoneBurner call French numbers? +
No. Its official FAQ states that the platform can be used from anywhere, but that it only allows dialling numbers located in the United States and Canada. The vendor says it is looking at opening up internationally, without announcing a timeline. For a team prospecting in France, the choice between the two tools therefore does not arise.
Is Skipcall cheaper than PhoneBurner? +
It depends on the plan compared. The entry price is lower at Skipcall: €15 per licence on Business VoIP and €75 on Starter, against $140 for the first PhoneBurner plan on annual billing. At the top of the range, the Skipcall Expert licence at €280 is more expensive. Per conversation obtained, however, the gap turns in favour of Skipcall: parallel dialling produces more conversations for the same working time. The cost per conversation table, higher up this page, sets out the calculation.
Does Skipcall offer voicemail drop like PhoneBurner? +
No, and it is a real gap. One-click voicemail drop is the feature PhoneBurner puts forward most, included on every plan. Skipcall does not offer it. Our stance is different: rather than equipping the message left on a voicemail, our artificial intelligence filters voicemails out to give the rep back the time that would have gone into them.
How many conversations are included in a Skipcall plan? +
400 per licence per month on the Starter plan, 1,000 on Intermediate, no limit on Expert, and 200 on the Business VoIP offer. Any conversation longer than ten seconds is counted. PhoneBurner, for its part, does not limit the number of calls and does not bill by the minute: on that specific point, its model is simpler than ours.
Do you need a licence minimum or a commitment? +
Neither with one nor with the other. PhoneBurner states in its FAQ that no contract is required and that a single licence is enough, with monthly billing. At Skipcall, there is no minimum either: one licence is enough, and the first month costs the price of one licence. Annual pricing does mean, on both sides, paying for the year.
