What is the E.164 format?
E.164 is the ITU standard for writing a phone number: a plus sign, the country code, then the national number without its trunk prefix, with no spaces or punctuation. The US number (201) 555-0123 becomes +12015550123, the French 06 12 34 56 78 becomes +33612345678. Fifteen digits at most, one possible format per number.
It is the format carriers, telephony APIs and dialers expect. A list in E.164 can be compared, deduplicated and imported without ambiguity, whatever country your contacts come from. That is what an E.164 converter does: one rule, applied to every row.
Why a dialer rejects a badly formatted number
A dialer dials what it is given. A number without a country code is read with the account’s default country, a leading zero dropped by Excel leaves a number too short, and “6.12E+08” is no longer a number at all. Depending on the tool, the row is rejected at import, or the call goes out to a number that does not exist and burns an attempt.
Prospecting lists pile up these defects: CRM exports, purchased lists, manual entry, merges of several sources. The same contact shows up twice in two formats and gets called twice. A bulk phone number validator removes those rows before they cost talk time.
What this phone number formatter checks, and what it does not
The tool runs on libphonenumber, the numbering library maintained by Google. It checks that each number fits its country’s numbering plan: length, assigned prefix, line type (mobile, landline, VoIP, toll-free or premium). It repairs Excel damage, isolates extensions, splits cells that hold several numbers and flags duplicates whatever their format.
It does not tell you whether the line is still active. A valid number may have been disconnected or reassigned: validation is about the format, not the subscription. Only a call, or a network lookup, can confirm that.
How to check that your numbers never leave your browser
All processing runs in your browser, inside a Web Worker: no number, no file name and no row content is sent anywhere, to Skipcall or anyone else. Nothing is stored either: closing the tab clears everything.
The simplest test: once the page has loaded, turn off your connection (airplane mode or Wi-Fi off) and paste your numbers. The tool keeps working, because it needs no server.
In your browser’s Network tab you will see the site’s audience measurement tools, as on every page of the site. None of them receives your numbers: the tool area is excluded from session recording and click capture.
A calendar full of meetings starts with a call.
