Connected through the open API

# Connecting Skipcall to Zoho CRM

Calls are logged on your Zoho leads, contacts and deals. No native integration, but no integration project either: the Skipcall REST API is open and documented, and an automation platform, or a coding assistant, is enough to bridge the two.

In brief

- **Skipcall has no native integration with Zoho CRM.**
- The **Skipcall REST API, on the other hand, is open, documented and complete**: everything the product does can be driven from outside.
- The connection can be built **without writing a line of code**, with [n8n](https://skipcall.io/en/integrations/n8n), [Zapier](https://skipcall.io/en/integrations/zapier) or [Make](https://skipcall.io/en/integrations/make).
- To call the API directly, **a coding assistant such as Claude or Codex** writes the script from the documentation in a few minutes.
- What goes to Skipcall: the leads, contacts and deals to call.
- What comes back into Zoho CRM: the call outcome, its duration, its summary and the recording.
- **Allow an hour** for a first working scenario, and a few minutes if you have the script written for you.

## Why connect Zoho CRM to Skipcall

Zoho CRM is highly configurable, and usually configured. A connection through an API has an advantage here over a fixed connector: it writes into exactly the fields you defined, custom ones included, rather than into the fields a vendor planned for everybody.

Zoho CRM belongs to the “CRM and sales management” family of our integrations. Your records go to Skipcall, the calls come back on the right record.

## How it connects

There are two routes, and neither is slower than the other. Neither means waiting for a connector to be built, nor tying up a technical team for weeks.

Without writing code

### Through an automation platform

They call the Skipcall API on one side and the Zoho CRM API on the other. You assemble the scenario with the mouse, with no server to host and no developer to book.

With a coding assistant

### By calling the API directly

Hand the [API documentation](https://docs.skipcall.app/api-reference/introduction) to a coding assistant: it writes the script in a few minutes. That is often the quicker route, and it avoids paying for a platform.

## What travels between the two tools

A connection through an API has one advantage over a fixed connector: **you decide what travels**, in which direction, and into which field. Nothing leaves that you have not planned, which also keeps your record of processing activities simple.

| Direction | What travels |
| - | - |
| **Zoho CRM → Skipcall** | the leads, contacts and deals to call |
| **Skipcall → Zoho CRM** | the call outcome, its duration, its summary and the recording |
| **Available in the API** | call outcome, date, duration, recording, transcript and AI-written summary |

## Three concrete uses

1. Feed a call session from a Zoho view, filtered however you like.
2. Write the outcome into your custom fields, not only into the standard ones.
3. Trigger a Zoho workflow according to the call outcome.

## Getting started

Allow an hour for a first working scenario, a few minutes if you have a coding assistant write the script. The time goes on deciding what you want to move between the two tools, not on writing code.

1. **Create your Skipcall API key** From your Skipcall workspace, you generate a key that opens the API. It gives access to contacts, call lists and outcomes.
2. **Connect Zoho CRM to Skipcall** In n8n, Zapier or Make, an HTTP module calls the Skipcall API on one side and the Zoho CRM API on the other. No code to write, no server to host. If you would rather call the API directly, a coding assistant such as Claude or Codex writes the script from the documentation.
3. **Send the outcome back** At the end of every call, Skipcall exposes the outcome, the duration, the transcript and the summary. The same scenario sends them into Zoho CRM, wherever you chose to put them.

20 to 25

calls an hour when dialling by hand

60 to 80

with a [power dialer](https://skipcall.io/en/power-dialer), one number at a time

150 to 200

with a four-line [parallel dialer](https://skipcall.io/en/parallel-dialer)

Those rates explain why sending the outcome back automatically matters so much. At twenty-five calls a day, a rep can still log them by hand in Zoho CRM. At a hundred and fifty they will not, and your data becomes wrong without anyone noticing.

## What to know before you start

No native integration

Skipcall has no ready-made connector for Zoho CRM. The four native integrations are [HubSpot](https://skipcall.io/en/integrations/hubspot), [Pipedrive](https://skipcall.io/en/integrations/pipedrive), [Salesforce](https://skipcall.io/en/integrations/salesforce) and [Attio](https://skipcall.io/en/integrations/attio). For everything else the open API does the work: expect a set-up rather than a button, but one measured in minutes or an hour, not weeks.

Before you switch recording on

Recording a call requires a documented lawful basis under the UK GDPR, information given to the people concerned beforehand, and a defined retention period; PECR governs the marketing calls themselves, with the ICO as the supervisory authority. These duties apply even when the recording is only used for internal training, and they do not disappear because the file travels through Zoho CRM.

## Beyond Zoho CRM

What syncs is set out on the [CRM integration](https://skipcall.io/en/features/crm-integration) page, and the [open API](https://skipcall.io/en/features/api) page describes what the interface exposes. The [MCP connector](https://skipcall.io/en/features/mcp-claude) also opens your call data up to an assistant, to question it in plain language.

For what gets said once the line is open, the [call script library](https://skipcall.io/en/scripts) gathers twenty ready-made frameworks. Plan details are on the [pricing page](https://skipcall.io/en/pricing).

## Frequently asked questions

**Does the connection write into my Zoho custom fields?**

Yes, and that is the advantage of a connection through an API over a fixed connector: you decide where each piece of data goes, custom fields included.

**Can a Zoho workflow be triggered after a call?**

Yes. The call outcome sent back by Skipcall can serve as the entry condition for a Zoho workflow, just as a manual change would.

**Is there a native integration between Skipcall and Zoho CRM?**

No. The Skipcall native integrations are HubSpot, Pipedrive, Salesforce and Attio. For Zoho CRM, the connection goes through the open REST API, either directly or through an automation platform.

**How long does it take to connect the two tools?**

Allow an hour for a first working scenario, and a few minutes if you have a coding assistant write the script. In most cases it is the scoping, not the technical work, that takes the time.

**Do you need a developer?**

Not in most cases. n8n, Zapier and Make call the API without a line of code. And to call the API directly, a coding assistant such as Claude or Codex writes the script from the documentation in a few minutes: that has become the faster of the two routes.

**Is API access charged separately?**

No. The open API is included in every plan, from the Starter plan, which starts at $70 per licence per month, from a single licence. Only the automation platform you choose, if you use one, has a price of its own.
