# Manage tags and custom fields

Create, rename and delete qualification tags and custom fields in a Skipcall workspace, and see where they show up across the app.

Updated on October 27, 2026

Tags and custom fields are managed per workspace, in **Configuration > Tags** and **Configuration > Custom fields**. Each workspace has its own.

## Tags

A tag is a qualification label you put on contacts, for example “Call back”.

### Create a tag

1. Click **Configuration** in the left menu.
2. Open the **Tags** tab.
3. Click **Add a tag**.
4. Type the **Tag name**.
5. Confirm with the check mark (or cancel with the X).

The list is sorted alphabetically and has a search box.

### Rename or delete a tag

- Use the pencil icon to rename a tag.
- Use the trash icon to delete it. The app asks you to confirm: “Delete the tag “\[name]”? This tag will also be removed from every contact that has it. This action can’t be undone.”

## Custom fields

A custom field is an extra piece of data added to every contact in the workspace (for example an industry, a customer ID or a lead source).

### Create a field

1. Click **Configuration** in the left menu.
2. Open the **Custom fields** tab.
3. Click **Add a field**.
4. Type the **Custom field name** (the name is all you need, as free text).
5. Confirm.

You can also create a field during a CSV import, with the **New +** button at the column matching step. See [Import contacts from a CSV file](https://skipcall.io/en/help/import-contacts-csv).

### Edit or delete a field

The list has a search box, sorting by **Field name** and, for each field, a pencil icon (edit) and a trash icon (delete).

### Where custom fields show up

Once created, a field is available:

- on the contact record, in **Edit** mode
- when matching columns during a CSV import
- in the columns and filters of **Contacts** and of sequences
- in the list of variables for text message templates

## FAQ

### My tags and fields don’t show up in another workspace

That’s expected: each workspace has its own tags and custom fields. Create them in the other workspace as well.

### What happens to contacts when I delete a tag?

The tag is removed from every contact that has it. Deleting a tag can’t be undone.
