# Import contacts from a CSV file

Bring your contacts into Skipcall in two steps: upload your CSV file, map each column to a field, then follow the import progress.

Updated on October 27, 2026

To import a list of contacts, open **Contacts**, click **Add contacts**, then pick the **CSV import** tab. It takes two steps: upload the file, then map its columns.

## Get your file ready

Skipcall imports CSV files. If your list lives in Excel or Google Sheets, use **Save as** or **Download** and choose CSV before you import it.

A few tips before you start:

- Enter phone numbers in international format (for example +33612345678).
- Keep separate columns for first name, last name and company: they are used to spot duplicates (see below).
- If a contact has several numbers, put each number in its own column.

## Step 1: upload the file

1. In the left menu, click **Contacts**.
2. Click **Add contacts** in the top right corner.
3. Pick the **CSV import** tab.
4. Click the **Choose a CSV file to import** area, or drag your file onto it.
5. Check the file name shown (click the area again to replace it), then click **Next**.

## Step 2: map the columns

The **Select the data to import** screen shows a badge with the number of contacts found in your file. For each row:

- **CSV column name**: the column header in your file.
- **Samples**: the first values in that column, to help you recognize it.
- **Skipcall fields**: where that column should go, picked from the **Choose a field** list (searchable).

The available fields are **Phone 1**, **Last name**, **First name**, **Company**, **Email**, **Country**, **Job title**, **URL**, **LinkedIn**, **LinkedIn Sales URL**, **City**, plus your custom fields.

- Once **Phone 1** is used, **Phone 2** shows up for the next column, so you can keep several numbers per contact.
- A field you’ve already mapped disappears from the list.
- For a column with no match, choose **New +**, which normally lets you create a custom field without leaving the import, or **Do not import** to skip it.

Then click **Next**.

## Follow the import

1. A message confirms that the CSV analysis has started: your file was accepted.
2. A progress window shows a percentage, the number of rows processed and a count of contacts created.
3. A final screen congratulates you and shows how many new contacts were added. Click **Finish**.

You also get a notification when the import starts and when it ends, in the **Notifications** panel at the bottom of the left menu. Your new contacts appear in the **Contacts** table.

## Common questions

### My columns don’t match Skipcall’s fields

That’s expected: you map them by hand in step 2. Pick the right field in **Choose a field**, create a custom field with **New +**, or choose **Do not import**.

### I see duplicate contacts after importing

For future imports, make sure you map all three columns: **Last name**, **First name** and **Company**. For duplicates that were already created, contact the Skipcall team through the chat.

### Some contacts weren’t imported

Check your column mapping, especially the **Phone 1** column and the international format of the numbers, then run the import again. If it still happens, contact the Skipcall team through the chat and attach your file.
