# Set up and run your first call session

Test your microphone, import contacts, create a sequence, adjust the call settings and start the dialer: your first Skipcall call session.

Updated on October 27, 2026

Your first call session comes together in five steps: test your audio, import your contacts, create a sequence, adjust your call settings, then launch the sequence.

## 1. Test your microphone and speaker

1. Open the profile menu (your name, bottom left) > **Settings**.
2. Open **Audio settings**.
3. On the **Microphone** tab, pick your microphone, set the **Input volume**, then click **Test**.
4. On the **Speaker** tab, pick your output, set the **Speaker volume**, then click **Test**.

On the same tab, **Ringtone speaker** lets you send the ringtone to a different output, for example your computer speakers while you wear a headset.

The same settings are available in every sequence through the headset button. When you plug in a headset, a “New audio device detected” notification appears at the top right: click **Use** to switch to it.

## 2. Import your contacts

1. Open **Contacts**.
2. Click **Add contacts**, then **CSV import**.
3. Drop your file in, then click **Next**.
4. Match each column to a Skipcall field, then click **Next**.

Full details in [Import contacts from a CSV file](https://skipcall.io/en/help/import-contacts-csv).

## 3. Create the sequence

You have two options:

- from **Contacts**: check the contacts you want, then click **Create a sequence**
- from **Sequences**: click **Create a sequence** and choose the source (Skipcall contacts, a CSV file or a HubSpot list)

Name the sequence and assign it to at least one member. See [Create a sequence](https://skipcall.io/en/help/create-a-sequence).

## 4. Adjust the call settings

In the sequence, the **Call settings** block lets you choose:

- **Your number**: the caller number
- **Simultaneous calls**: from 1 to 4
- **Voicemail if no answer**: a prerecorded message dropped automatically
- **Text if no answer**: a template text message sent automatically

See [Sequence call settings](https://skipcall.io/en/help/sequence-call-settings).

## 5. Launch the sequence

Click **Launch sequence**.

By default, the sequence list only shows contacts with no call status and no tag, meaning contacts you haven’t called or qualified yet. To see every contact, click **Clear all** next to **Active filters**.

## After each call

Qualify the contact: add a note or create a follow-up task. See [Tasks and reminders](https://skipcall.io/en/help/tasks-and-reminders).

## Track your results

- **Analytics**: your call dashboard, filterable by sequence (and by member for admins).
- **Recordings**: replay your calls and read the AI summary and transcript. Recording has to be turned on for the workspace (**Configuration > Permissions > Enable recordings**).
