# The contact record: details, tasks and notes

Get to know the Skipcall contact record: its five tabs, how to edit a contact's details, notes that save as you type, and tasks.

Updated on October 27, 2026

The contact record holds everything you know about a person. To open it, click the contact’s row in **Contacts**: it opens in a side panel.

## The header

At the top of the record you’ll see the contact’s name, company, job title and the **Create a task** button.

## The five tabs

### Details

- The **Number of calls** and **Last call** line (or N/A if the contact has never been called).
- **Phone 1**, with **Call** and **SMS** buttons.
- **First name**, **Last name**, **Email** (with a copy button, or **Enrich** if it’s missing), **Company**, **Job title**, **City**, **Country**, **LinkedIn**, **LinkedIn Sales**, **URL** and your custom fields.
- The **Edit** button.

You can’t change a contact’s tags from the record.

### Tasks

Tasks linked to the contact. Check **Show completed tasks** to see finished ones too, and click **+ Create** to add a new one.

### Sequences

The sequences the contact belongs to. If there are none, you’ll see a message saying no sequence was found.

### Calls

Your call history with this contact. If you haven’t called them yet, the tab says there are no calls so far.

### Notes

Click **Create a note** and start typing. The note saves on its own as you type (a **Saving…** indicator appears) and is titled with its date and time. You can collapse it, and its **⋮** menu offers **Pin** and **Delete**.

## Edit a contact’s details

1. Open the contact’s record.
2. Click **Edit** to open the contact editing window.
3. Change the fields you need. Next to **Phone 1**, the trash icon removes the number and the **+** button adds another one.
4. Click **Save** (or **Cancel** to discard your changes).

The editing window also has a checkbox to mark that the contact doesn’t want to receive calls, for when a prospect asks not to be called again. For details on how it applies to your sequences and calls, contact the Skipcall team through the chat.

## Create a task from the record

1. Click **Create a task** in the header.
2. Give the task a **Title** (required), for example “Follow up on pricing”.
3. Add **Notes** if you like.
4. Pick the **Reminder date** (today at 9:00 AM by default) and the **Owner**.
5. Click **Create task**. A confirmation tells you the task was created.

## Common questions

### Where are my notes about a contact?

In the contact’s record, on the **Notes** tab. They save automatically, and the **⋮** menu lets you pin or delete them.

### How do I add a contact’s email?

Contact record > **Edit** > **Email** > **Save**. If you don’t know the address, the **Enrich** button in the Email field runs an automatic search. See [enrich your contacts](https://skipcall.io/en/help/enrich-contacts).
