# AI summary and call transcript

Every call recorded in Skipcall gets an AI-written summary and a full transcript. Here's where to read them, how to copy them, and how to turn them on.

Updated on October 27, 2026

For every recorded call, Skipcall shows an AI-written summary and the full transcript of the conversation. You’ll find them in the **Recordings** menu when you click on a call.

## Where to read the summary and transcript

1. In the left menu, click **Recordings**.
2. Click the call’s row.
3. In **Recording details**, read the **Call summary** section.
4. Expand **Call transcript** to see the full text.

To find a specific call, use the search or **Filters** (Date, Sequence name, Duration, Tag name, Member). See [Listen to your call recordings](https://skipcall.io/en/help/call-recordings).

## Copy the summary or transcript

- Click **Copy summary** in the **Call summary** section.
- Click the copy button in the **Call transcript** section.

You can then paste the text wherever you need it, for example into a note on the contact record (the **Notes** tab, on the same screen) or into your CRM.

## Turn on AI summaries and transcripts

Summaries and transcripts are built on call recording, so they depend on the workspace setting:

1. From the workspace you want, click **Configuration** in the left menu.
2. Open the **Permissions** tab.
3. Turn on **Enable recordings**.

With recording turned off, there’s normally no audio, transcript, or AI summary in **Recordings**.

## FAQ

### The summary doesn’t make sense

On a call that lasts just a few seconds, the AI has almost nothing to summarize. If only “Hello” was said, for example, the summary may simply note that the call contains nothing but a greeting. That’s expected.

### The summary describes a voicemail greeting, not a conversation

Calls that land in voicemail are recorded too, so the summary describes the voicemail greeting. That’s expected.

### I don’t have a summary or a transcript

Check that **Enable recordings** is on under **Configuration > Permissions** in the workspace where the call was made.

### What about voicemails I receive?

Messages left by your callers have their own transcript in the **Voicemail** menu. See [Voicemail](https://skipcall.io/en/help/voicemail).
